Greetings from Mrs. Jurovich
Welcome back to school! I am excited to begin a new school year as the ending to last year was so crazy! I am thrilled to be teaching 3rd grade and look forward to seeing many familiar faces. I joined the Elder Grove community 14 years ago as a substitute teacher, worked a few years as a para, and have spent the last 8 years teaching 2nd grade. I am looking forward to teaching a new grade level and will be updating my website as we go through the year with 3rd grade curriculum and information so please check back regularly.
A little more about me: I grew up on a farm and ranch NE of Rapid City, S.D. where I loved roaming around on horseback, driving tractor, or doing anything else that kept me out of the house. I attended a one-room schoolhouse kindergarten - eighth grade and was a part of what was considered a large class as it consisted of myself and two other students. After high school, I attended Rocky Mountain College where I met a fantastic fellow who would eventually become my husband. We have been married for 29 years and have three wonderful children. David is 24, a graduate of RMC, and is now in his 3rd year of pharmacy school at the University of Montana. Our daughter Anna graduated from the MSU nursing program in May and is now officially an RN. Ryan is our youngest and he is starting his junior year at MSU this year. We have a fluffy white dog named Bella that we love taking for walks, hikes, and float trips. It's a rare weekend that the word fishing doesn't come up at our house. When we do stay home, I like to do yard work, taking care of my flower beds and garden.
Normally we would be having an open house to meet you and your child and give a presentation about 3rd grade expectations. Unfortunately we are unable to do that this year. Please read the expectations below then send us an email address and phone number that you prefer we use to communicate with you!
Thank you so much!
3rd Grade Expectations and Procedures for 2020-2021
Welcome Students and Parents!
Hello! This is going to be a wonderful year! The third grade teachers this year are Mrs. Green, Mrs. Jurovich, and Mrs. Staffileno. We are excited to get to know all of our students and watch them grow to their full potential. This syllabus includes expectations and procedures that are required in our third grade classrooms and throughout the school.
It is essential that your child is in attendance consistently to receive proper instruction. Attendance will be taken at the beginning of the school day and after lunch. The school day begins at 8:01 a.m. It is considered a half day absence if you show up after 8:30 a.m. For additional information please see the Student Handbook under Absences.
Your child is considered tardy if they show up to the classroom after 8:05 a.m. If your child is going to be tardy, they will go to the office to receive a tardy slip to be admitted into the classroom. For additional information please see the Student Handbook under tardy policy.
When a student is absent, it is the student’s responsibility to complete the missing work at home that the teacher has compiled. The student has 2 days for each day absent to complete the work and return it to the teacher. NOTE: You may get your work ahead of time if you know you are going to be absent. This work must be completed and turned in upon arrival.
If your child wishes to celebrate their birthday at school, they are welcome to bring a treat for every student on the assigned day. Birthday treats must be store bought and individually packaged this year due to Covid restrictions. If your child wishes to celebrate a summer birthday please contact their teacher to set a date. Due to nut allergies please do not bring treats containing nut products.
It is your child’s responsibility to bring their own snack. Please have them choose a healthy snack such as fruit, veggies, cheese sticks or sliced cheese, yogurt or granola bars. Candy, cookies, and potato chips will not be allowed. Due to nut allergies please do not bring treats containing nut products.
Your child will bring home a planner each day. The planner will list the assignments that we completed in class. If your child did NOT finish an assignment, it will be circled and is expected to be completed as homework that evening. Parents need to sign the planner each night. Your child will bring the planner back to school daily to be checked by their teacher.
Tuesday ( Red) Folders
We will NOT be using the Tuesday Folders at this time. Graded work will be sent home at various times. Please check your child’s backpack each evening for their planner, important notes, and graded work.
The easiest ways to contact us will be through email or by phone 656-2893. Please note that phone calls will not be answered during instruction time and we may not have time to check emails after 12:30. If you need to communicate a change in your child’s schedule please do so before 12:30 or contact the office. Emails and extensions are:
