ELDER GROVE SCHOOL LIBRARY:
The school library program serves to instill a love of reading, inspire life-long learning, and foster independent library use. Students visit once a week (or every three days in Kindergarten - Second Grade) with their class to check out materials and to practice information literacy skills and digital citizenship. The library is an inviting space where students may acquire knowledge and gain insight; practice their technology skills: a stimulating place where they may find facts and fiction.
The current library was part of the 2015 addition and serves about 540 students in grades Kindergarten through 8th. Holdings include books, e-books, magazines, art prints, videos, DVDs, audiobooks, and music CDs --roughly 20,000 items-- largely funded by the EGPTO and community support. There are five student-use computer stations, two computers serving library operations, and one presentation station with an interactive projector and a set of Activevotes. The library is automated with Manderin Oasis LMS software. This online software enables our students, staff, and parents to have access to the library both at school and at home and it is our hope that this will promote library to classroom to home learning and connectivity.
