As you already know we are running out of space at Elder Gove School. Our projected enrollment is about 600 students. We ended last year at 565. With the growing enrollment we need to free up space. With the added numbers, we need the gym space in the elementary. I have been working with the YMCA Afterschool Program to come up with a solution that will ensure the best afterschool program for our kids. The Y did a great job of finding a place ¼ mile west of our campus at YBGR. They will have a little kitchen, play area and a designated room for activities. The site is by the water tower on the east side of 72nd off YBGR's main campus. The students will now have a designated space to meet every day and will be in a safe environment. You will no longer have to guess if they are in the gym, classroom or outside. I truly believe this will enable the Y Afterschool Program to be the best it can be. The one downfall is there will be an increase in tuition for the program due to the Y having to lease space at YBGR. There will be more information on this later, coming directly from the Y.
