Contact Info:

Hello!  It is best to contact me by email: staffileno@eldergrove.k12.mt.us or

by phone for the elementary building:  656-2893 and leave a message for Mrs. Clayton who will contact me.

                                          Hello from Mrs. Staffileno

Hello!  I am Mrs. Staffileno and this is my 35th year of teaching.  I taught in Lewistown my first three years and then moved to Billings.  I have taught at Elder Grove School for 32 years.  I am excited for the new school year to begin.  I view my job as simply "amazing" because I get to start every fall with a new group of students and instill a love of learning. I strive to reach this goal by trying to make each lesson valuable and exciting by using implementing  projects, activities and artwork.

I am married to Greg and we have two boys.  Our oldest son is working at Westmont College in Santa Barbara where he resides with his wife and their three children.   Our youngest son is an English teacher in Dickenson  where he resides with his wife Kaitlyn.   We enjoy camping and fishing immensely.  In the fall we do a lot of canning with the tomatoes, onions, and peppers that we grow.  We can salsa, spaghetti sauce and pizza sauce.  Another hobby of mine is cooking and baking.

Normally we would be having an open house to meet  you and your child.  It is unfortunate that we are unable to do that this year.  The third grade teachers usually give a presentation about third grade and the expectations.  Please read the expectations below and send us an email address and phone number that you prefer we use to communicate with you!

Thank you so much!

Mrs. Staffileno

3rd Grade Expectations and Procedures for 2020-2021

Welcome Students and Parents!

Hello!  This is going to be a wonderful year!  The third grade teachers this year are Mrs. Green, Mrs. Jurovich, and Mrs. Staffileno.  We are excited to get to know all of our students and watch them grow to their full potential.  This syllabus includes expectations and procedures that are required in our third grade classrooms and throughout the school.

Attendance

It is essential that your child is in attendance consistently to receive proper instruction.  Attendance will be taken at the beginning of the school day and after lunch.  The school day begins at 8:01 a.m. It is considered a half day absence if you show up after 8:30 a.m. For additional information please see the Student Handbook under Absences.

Tardies

Your child is considered tardy if they show up to the classroom after 8:05 a.m.  If your child is going to be tardy, they will go to the office to receive a tardy slip to be admitted into the classroom. For additional information please see the Student Handbook under tardy policy.

Absences

When a student is absent, it is the student’s responsibility to complete the missing work at home that the teacher has compiled.  The student has 2 days for each day absent to complete the work and return it to the teacher.   NOTE:  You may get your work ahead of time if you know you are going to be absent. This work must be completed and turned in upon arrival.

Birthdays

If your child wishes to celebrate their birthday at school,  they are welcome to bring a treat for every student on the assigned day. Birthday treats must be store bought and  individually packaged this year due to Covid restrictions. If your child wishes to celebrate a summer birthday please contact their teacher to set a date.   Due to nut allergies please do not bring treats containing nut products.

Snacks

It is your child’s responsibility to bring their own snack.  Please have them choose a healthy snack such as fruit, veggies, cheese sticks or sliced cheese, yogurt or granola bars.  Candy, cookies, and potato chips will not be allowed.   Due to nut allergies please do not bring treats containing nut products.

Planners

Your child will bring home a planner each day.  The planner will list the assignments that we completed in class.  If your child did NOT finish an assignment, it will be circled and is expected to be completed as homework that evening.  Parents need to sign the planner each night.  Your child will bring the planner back to school daily to be checked by their teacher.

Tuesday ( Red)  Folders

We will NOT be using the Tuesday Folders at this time.  Graded work will be sent home at various times. Please check your child’s backpack each evening for their planner, important notes, and graded work.

Teacher Contacts

The easiest ways to contact us will be through email or by phone 656-2893.  Please note that phone calls will not be answered during instruction time and we may not have time to check emails after 12:30.
